Abstract

Transparency and accountability are essential elements in improving governance quality, public trust, and organizational performance in the public sector. However, limited access to information, weak oversight, and inadequate accountability systems remain significant challenges in public management. This study aims to examine the effects of transparency and accountability on public sector management performance. A quantitative explanatory approach with a survey design was employed. Data were collected through structured Likert-scale questionnaires administered to 100 respondents involved in public sector services and organizational management. Respondents were selected using purposive sampling based on their involvement in and understanding of public sector governance. The data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling to assess construct validity and reliability and examine the relationships among the research variables. The findings indicate that transparency and accountability have positive and significant effects on public sector management performance. Accountability demonstrates a stronger effect, particularly through systematic reporting, oversight, and performance evaluation. The study concludes that improving information disclosure and strengthening accountability mechanisms can enhance the effectiveness, efficiency, and quality of public services. These findings contribute to the development of public management studies and provide practical insights for improving public sector governance.
