Sustainable Strategic Operation Through the Implementation of Business Continuity Management System (BCMS) Based on Iso 22301:2019 at XYZ Fertilizer Company
Abstract
Fertilizer production is highly dependent on integrated processes, critical utilities, specialized facilities, and coordinated recovery capabilities. However, previous studies have rarely integrated incident-based root-cause analysis, ISO 22301:2019 conformity assessment, updated Business Impact Analysis, and structured improvement within one sustainable-operations study. This study aims to strengthen sustainable strategic operation at XYZ Fertilizer Company through an ISO 22301:2019-based Business Continuity Management System using a qualitative case study and the DMAIC framework. The assessment of 26 criteria found 61.5% Fully Achieved, 34.6% Partially Achieved, and 3.8% Not Achieved, with the largest gaps in Clause 8. The updated analysis identified 13 Critical Business Functions and their recovery priorities. The novelty lies in integrating root-cause analysis, standards-based gap assessment, updated impact analysis, target-state continuity design, and control mechanisms while explicitly linking operational resilience to Sustainable Development Goals 9, 8, 12, and 13.
