Optimalisasi Pengelolaan Sampah Melalui Kampanye TPS 3R: Studi Kasus Universitas Pelita Bangsa
Abstract
Waste management has become a growing global challenge with rapid population growth and urbanization. In Indonesia, significant amounts of waste are generated each year, with most of the waste being poorly managed, causing environmental pollution. Pelita Bangsa University, located in Bekasi Regency, contributes to this problem, especially household waste and food waste. This study aims to propose an effective waste management strategy based on the 3R concept (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) to address waste management issues on campus. This study uses a quantitative descriptive approach with field observations, surveys, and secondary data collection to assess existing waste management practices and identify areas for improvement. The results show that although awareness of waste management is quite high, practices such as sorting and recycling are still minimal due to limited facilities and lack of education. Based on these findings, the study recommends the implementation of a comprehensive 3R-based waste management system, infrastructure improvements such as segregated waste bins, and educational campaigns to increase academic community participation. The implementation of this system is expected to reduce the volume of waste disposed of to landfills, reduce negative impacts on the environment, and serve as an example for other institutions in Bekasi Regency.
