Abstract

Neck pain in students has an impact on decreased productivity and also absence, the most common factors causing neck pain are the use of electronics, psychosocial factors such as stress and anxiety and lack of physical activity of students. This study uses an analytical observational study type with a quantitative approach and cross-sectional design. The population in this study were active students in Yogyakarta taken from 14 campuses, as many as 385 respondents calculated using the lemeshow formula. Data collection was carried out through the Neck Disability Index (NDI) questionnaire, the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ), the Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS-21), and neck curve examination. Based on the results of the spearman-rank test, it shows that there is a significant relationship between neck pain and physical activity levels (p = 0.000), neck curve conditions (p = 0.004), and stress levels (p = 0.000) where most respondents were female with an average age of 18-22 years. The results of this study are significant between physical activity, neck curve and stress levels on neck pain so it is important for students to control stress and activities such as the use of electronics that can have an impact on the neck curve and cause neck pain.
