Abstract

The purpose of this research was determined the effect and the best concentration of green tea extract in skim milk and egg yolk diluent for spermatozoa quality of Sapudi sheep were measured in motility, viability, and plasma membrane integrity that was stored on cold temperature. The semen was divided into four groups; skim milk and egg yolk diluent, 0.10% green tea extract in skim milk and egg yolk diluent, 0.15% green tea extract in skim milk and egg yolk diluent, and 0.20% green tea extract in skim milk and egg yolk diluent. Spermatozoa quality was observed at day 1, day 2, day 3, day 4, and day 5 after being diluted. The results showed that the highest percentage of motility, viability, and plasma membrane integrity was 0.20% green tea extract on skim milk and egg yolk diluent for 5 days storage is 54.46a±1.72, 69.71a±2.15, and 42.76a±2.68. The lowest percentage of motility, viability, and plasma membrane integrity was skim milk and egg yolk diluent for 5 days storage is 43.33c±2.98, 63.35c±2.35, and 36.39c±2.14. The conclusion of this research is the addition of 0,20% green tea extract in skim milk and egg yolk diluent can maintain the quality of spermatozoa for up to 5 days of storage on cold temperature.
