Abstract

The perimenopausal phase is often accompanied by anxiety, which is influenced by the level of knowledge, husband's support, and a mother's perception of menopause. A lack of understanding, insufficient spousal support, and negative perceptions can increase anxiety levels. This study aims to examine the relationship between knowledge, husband's support, and maternal perception with the level of anxiety in facing menopause among perimenopausal women in the Mandalawangi Public Health Center, Pandeglang, in 2025. A quantitative research method with a cross-sectional approach was employed, involving 107 perimenopausal women selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a questionnaire covering knowledge, husband's support, maternal perception, and anxiety levels, measured using the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS). Data analysis was conducted using univariate and bivariate tests with the chi-square test. The results showed that the majority of respondents had a moderate level of knowledge (72%), received low support from their husbands (66.4%), and had a positive perception of menopause (60.7%). A significant relationship was found between knowledge level and anxiety (p = 0.000), husband's support and anxiety (p = 0.000), as well as maternal perception and anxiety (p = 0.003). The study concluded that a higher level of knowledge correlates with lower anxiety levels among perimenopausal women. Adequate husband's support and a positive perception of menopause also contribute to reducing anxiety. It is recommended that healthcare professionals enhance menopause education for perimenopausal women and their spouses and implement psychosocial support programs to alleviate menopause-related anxiety.
