Abstract
This article examines drug abuse and distribution in Johar Baru Village, Central Jakarta based on the Differential Association theory developed by Edwin Sutherland. Through qualitative, this research uses descriptive methods for qualitative research identifies how social interactions in the Johar Baru neighborhood can facilitate the process of individual learning techniques into criminal behavior, namely drug abuse and distribution, as well as prevention efforts involving the community and agencies. From this research, it can be concluded that 9 main principles of Differential Association theory are very instrumental in the learning process of drug abuse. The learning process of criminal behavior such as interaction with friends, family and the environment that supports and introduces drug use techniques is the main factor that encourages individuals to fall into this behavior. This phenomenon is consistent with the concept of Differential Association theory which states that deviant behavior such as drug abuse and distribution is learned through association with individuals or groups that have norms that support such behavior.
